will feature in the magazine. NME does not

cater to one specific genre, however, these
artists are mainly Rock musicians so will
attract an audience familiar with Rock
music.
Masthead NME is the largest text on
the cover which makes it clear to the
audience that this is the name of the
magazine. The font is squared and
blocky making it seem quite aggressive
but also effective in attracting an
audience. It is also coloured red on a
white background making it stand out
from the rest of the page. The black
outline also helps with this.
Strapline This gives the
audience an insight into what a
large chunk of the magazine will
feature.
Main Image Is a medium shot of the
main selling point, Dizzee Rascal. He is
looking directly at the camera which is
direct address. His facial expression is a
very happy and bubbly one which will
portray the overall mood of the
magazine in the same way, therefore,
attracting more of an audience as
people want to read a magazine that
will make them happy and amused. His
clothing is very stereotypical to his
music genre of hip-hop. The vest and
gold necklace exaggerate the genre
even further.
Main Coverline This anchors the main
image so that it makes it more clear
who the model is. This will attract
people who are interested in this genre
of music as they will like to read about
artists creating this type of music. The
text is very large and located in the very
centre of the page, making it obvious
what the main selling point is. The
colour is white but placed on a black
version of the same text, making it
stand out more. This font is rounded,
which contrasts to the masthead which
portrays a more relaxing feel to the
magazine.
Barcode and Price These are all
essential to a magazine and are legal
requirements. NME have followed
conventions by placing them in the
bottom right corner as to not distract
from the coverlines.
Footer This lists more artists that will
feature in the magazine, but of a
different genre to the header as to
attract a wider audience who are
interested in different music genres.
