) is the supreme law of Pakistan. There have been several documents known as theConstitutionof
Pakistan. The Constitution of 1973 is theexisting constitution, which provides for
a parliamentary systemwith aPresidentashead of state and popularly electedPrime
Minister ashead of government. Pakistan has abicameral legislature that consists of
theSenate(upper house) and the National Assembly(lower house). Together with the President,
the Senate and National Assembly make up a body called theMajlis-i-Shoora (Council of
Advisors) or Parliament.
