We have reviewed and modifed each level so students can progress through our levels more regularly. Our teachers will continually assess your childs skill level Your child will now receive certifcates when they complete each level. We are not changing our methodology, we are still teaching the students the same skills and our top priority is to make your child feel safer in the water. Why has it changed? We know parents and children like regular progression and recognition of their achievements. So our program has been refned so students can achieve quickly and be rewarded for their accomplishments. When will it officially change to Swimming Lessons? YMCA Swimming Lessons will commence January 2014. How will this affect my childs class level/progression? Your child should move through the levels at a more regular rate, continually being challenged, learning new skills and ultimately feeling safer in and around the water. What are the different levels? Infant 18 months- 3 years (Starfsh) Pre-school 3 years-school age (Tadpole, Goldfsh) School age (Pre-Octopus, Octopus, Sardine, Salmon, Tuna, Dolphin, Shark) Will class times change? Class times may vary, depending on your child/rens level. Please see your local YMCA Swim School Coordinator or our friendly Customer Service staff for any changes to your current class times. Will my childs teacher stay the same? Teachers may vary if your child is due to progress to the next level in the reviewed curriculum. All our teachers are nationally accredited and can give you regular feedback on your childs progress.
