How can you help?

Make a donation to one of the many

organizations that are dedicated to the
protection of endangered species. One of
the many organizations includes The
World Wide Fund. For just $40 you can
fund the 10 day salary of a protection
unit.
Adopt a Snow Leopard. A symbolic
adoption will in fact help save real Snow
Leopards in the wild. Adopting a Snow
Leopard will help train and equip anti-
poaching patrols and will help create
programs in order to increase wild prey
populations.
Help bring to an end to crime against
wildlife. Many endangered species are
being hunted for their body parts. Donate
just $5 to WWF and lend a hand in
stopping illegal poaching.

SAVE THE SNOW
LEOPARD

Climate Change: As the earth
becomes warmer many plant and
tree species are growing at higher
altitudes in turn reducing the alpine
habitat higher up. This is changing
and shrinking the snow leopards
habitat.
Possible Consequences of
Extinction
The sheep, marmot and hare
population would increase
exponentially because the snow
leopards will no longer be there to
control the population of these animals
The large population of these animals
would result in more consumption of
grass and plants leading to over
grazing, wipe out most of the
vegetation
The entire habitat will transform into a
freezing, dry, lifeless desert like area
This may cause other species that
depend on the habitat to either
become endangered or even extinct
such as the endangered black-necked
crane or bar-headed geese

The Snow Leopard
The Snow Leopard also known as
Panthera Uncia is a large cat which
occupies the mountain areas of Central
Asia and is found at elevations between
3,000 4,500 meters. This majestic
animal is found in about 12 countries
worldwide, with 60% of the population
occupying China. The snow leopard has
been named endangered as of 1972.
Why its endangered
Habitat Degradation: the areas that
this species calls home are
becoming fragmented because of
humans moving in and grazing
caused by livestock
Human Conflict: The snow leopards
prey on livestock and many are
being killed by the owners of the
livestock
Poaching: This animal is also being
hunted for its body parts including
the coat, bones, claws and meat.
