Chameleon Vocabulary
1. Species- a group of animals or plants that are similar and can produce young
animals or plants : a group of related animals or plants that is smaller than a
genus : a particular group of things or people that belong together or have
some shared quality
2. Habitat- : the place or type of place where a plant or animal naturally
or normally lives or grows
3. Savanna: a large flat area of land with grass and very few trees
especially in Africa and South America
4. Breed- a group of usually domesticated animals or plants presumably
related by descent from common ancestors and visibly similar in most
characters
5. Diurnal- active mainly during the day
6. Bask(ing)- to lie or relax happily in a bright and warm place
7. Cold-blooded- having a body temperature not internally regulated but
approximating that of the environment
8. Carnivore- an animal that eats meat : a meat eater
9. Territorial- used to describe animals or people that try to keep others
away from an area that they use or control
10. Chameleon-a type of lizard that can change the color of its skin to look
like the colors that are around it
