Patent Number:
US 4866249 A
Patent Summary:
This invention relates generally to a hair curler heating iron which has a safety device to
prevent burns to the skin yet allows hair to be heated and curled safely. Burns from
mishandling the heating iron have been prevented.
Patent Critique:
The objective of this invention is to provide a device as characterized above which minimizes
the possibility of entanglement with the curling iron which has been an aggravating condition
not only with respect to effective hair curling, but also with respect to inducing mishandling of
the curling iron, leading to burns of the skin. This is a very unique design because it is
somewhat similar to what we have in mind but instead this man added a protective guard
over the heat barrel instead of actually keeping the hand holding the hair away from the heat
barrel.
