METRIC UNITS

Hello, my name is Elyse.
Have you ever wondered what the distance of
your school track is? Maybe even the mass of
liquid in a carton of milk? To measure these,
you will have to know special units.

KILLOMETER
Have you wanted to measure the distance from
your house to Disney land?
A: You would measure in KILLOMETERS.
KILLOMETERS are the biggest unit to measure
distance in the metric system.
KILLOMETERS are used to measure long distances
and huge spaces.

Meters
Meters are much smaller than killometers.
One killometer is 1,ooo meters.
A big horse is maybe the size of one meter.
CENTIMETERS
Centimeters are one of the smallest units in
the metric system. One meter is equal to 100
centimeters. You would have to measure this
eraser with centimeters.

MILIMETERS
MILIMETERS are the smallest metric unit in the
whole system for measuring distance. You
would probably use millimeters to measure
these pins. ONE centimeter is ten millimeters.

LITERS
LITERS are used to measure shampoo bottles,
and other big containers. YOU would measure
with liters to measure this watering can.

MILLILITERS
MILLILITERS are much smaller than a liter.
1,000 milliliters are one liter. You would
measure with milliliters to find the capacity of
a tiny cup.
