EXAMPLE: Five Star Amusement Park has a bungee jump attraction. They need to know how much the
cord will stretch for jumpers of various weights in order to adjust the jumping platform from its standard
height of 100 feet. The employees conduct an experiment and find that the 60 feet bungee cord they are
using stretches to a total length of 70 feet when the jumper weighs 50 lbs.

Think about it... How long do you think the cord will be if the jumper weighs 100 pounds? Explain your
