ARTS 2065 GROUP PROJECT ADAPTING A CLASSIC

Self-Evaluation Form
Please make comments (you may use point form if you prefer) and provide a mark
out of 10 for each of the following contribution areas.
Your NAME:________Thijs Rozeboom______z3420075___________________
To what extent did YOU contribute to the groups work in the following areas:
Background Research:
As I was not too familiar with this film I had to do some research into the film
and its creators. Resources I used for this were youtube where I watched the
scene, interviews with the cast of The Room and reviews to see what they
found what was wrong with this film. I also consulted IMDB and wikipedia
for background info on the makers. My main focus lay on sound as I was
going to record sound for this scene.
Mark 7.5
Pre-production: Analysis of the film grammar, conceptual ideas and
cinematic context:
In the original there is one sound of a car driving past and pressing the horn.
This sound comes up when Chris R takes Denny down and holds the gun on
him. This is the only sound effect used in the original as both diegetic (car
traffic on the street below) and non-diegetic to emphasise the drama
unfolding on screen (besides the music, of course). All other sound effects are
strictly diegetic.
Mark 8.5
Production & Post-production: Work on set, crew role performance
My task was supplying the camera, sound and lighting equipment and to
record the sound on set. I also helped out with the steadicam shots. My role in
post-production was sound editing but I also helped out with the colour
grading and finalising of the clip.
As I had more experience on set than my colleagues, I helped out with
planning an efficient production process.
Because I was not able to observe the level indicators in the camera and I did
not hear any distortion in my headphones (to close to the source), there are
some patches where the audio peaks, which is a shame. That's why I gave
myself only the mark 8.
Mark 8
Group interaction and problem-solving in order to achieve outcomes
I am a agreeable and respectful person and can easily and effectively
communicate with people to solve problems. I do not insist on my views as the
absolute peak of wisdom. However, I am able to formulate ideas and views in
a debate and make my standpoint clear.
Mark 10
