Global Strategy Group conducted a survey of 401 likely mid-term voters in New Yorks 18
th
Congressional
District on October 21-23, 2014. The results of this survey have a margin of error of +/-4.9%. Care has been
taken to ensure the partisan, geographic and demographic divisions of the expected electorate are properly
representedbasedonhistoricalvoterturnout.
KEY FINDINGS:
Democratic Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney leads former Republican Congresswoman Nan
Hayworth by six points, 46% to 40%, in a two-way contest, with 14% undecided.
Voters opinions of Maloneys job performance are largely positive (47% approve/35% disapprove), as
are opinions of him personally (44% favorable/29% unfavorable). Hayworth, on the other hand,
continues to be viewed much less favorably (39% favorable/41% unfavorable).
Asked which candidate is looking out for the economic interests of families like yours, 46% choose
Maloney, while just 35% choose Hayworth, and the gulf between the two candidates is even wider on
working with members of both parties on behalf of the Hudson Valley (43% Maloney/30% Hayworth).
