Cell Membrane
The cell membrane surrounds the
cell much like the three bodies of
water that surround New York City.
They are the Hudson, the East
River and the New York Bay.
The purpose of the cell
membrane is to control
what goes in and out
of the cell.

The nucleas holds DNA, and is
basically the center and the
control center for the cell. Times
Square is like the nucleas as it
the one of the big things New
York is known for.
Ribosomes
Ribosomes are like individual
people because of being individual
parts of strength. A group of
ribosomes is like a group of people.
Ribosomes are responsible
for assembling the proteins
of the cell.
Cytoplasm
The function of cytoplasm is also a
means of transport for genetic
material. Cytoplasm is like the taxis
and subway system of New York.
Mitochondria
The mitochondria are the powerhouse
of the cell, without them cells would not
have the energy available for the
processes of life. The mitochondria is
like a power plant.
Chloroplasts
The chloroplast of a cell would be like
a grocery store. The job of a
chloroplast is to capture energy and
make it into sugars and food for the
cell.
ER
The endoplasmic reticulum is like the
post office. The rough and smooth
ER are usually interconnected and
the proteins and membranes made
by the rough ER move into the
smooth ER to be
transferred to other
locations.

Golgi
Golgi Apparatus is like a factory
because factories package and
processes items. The Golgi
apparatus forms a part
of the endomembrane
system of eukaryotic cells.
Vacuoles
A vacuole could be a storage
center in a city because they
both store things.
Large Central Vacuole
The purpose of the large central
vacuole is to regulate hydrostatic
pressure, support growth, and
destroy invading bacteria.
Lysosomes
The purpose of the lysosome is
to digest things. They might be
used to digest food or break
down the cell when it dies. The
lysosomes might be
like the sanitation
department.
Centrioles
They are there to help the cell when
it comes time to divide. They are put
to work in both the process of
mitosis and the process of meiosis.
