Devon Anderson Condemns Oggs Statements
Metro Police Rescind Their Endorsement of Ogg

HOUSTON Devon Anderson, Harris County District Attorney, is joined by all major
local law enforcement agencies in condemning her opponents suggestion that the
District Attorneys office is somehow responsible for the tragic death of Sherriff
Deputy Valdez III.

The blame for the untimely death of our local hero lies squarely in the hands of
Kelly Jo Ivy who we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, Anderson said.

Rather than focus on ensuring justice is served for the Valdez family, my opponent
is shamefully interested in using this tragedy to further her political career,
Anderson concluded.

Local law enforcement agencies were equally as outraged by Andersons opponent.
So much so that one group, The Metro Police Union, pulled what was initially a dual
endorsement of both candidates.

Our board voted to rescind our support of Ms. Ogg after her remarks implied that
the DAs office was at fault for this deputys death. At a time like this our
communities should be coming together in support not trying to capitalize
politically at the expense of a family in mourning, said Robert Lozano, President of
Metro Union.

The Harris County Deputies Organization Vice President, Eric Batton said, Kim Ogg
should be ashamed. She has crossed the line. Her behavior is disgusting and
despicable. She has proved, once again, she is unfit for the office she seeks.

Ray Hunt issued the following; The men and women of the Houston Police Officers
Union join our brothers and sisters at the Harris County Sheriffs Department in
mourning the tragic loss of Deputy Jesse Valdez III. We also join them in
condemning Kim Oggs repugnant behavior in using this incident as a desperate
attempt at political gain on the very day a family lost a loved one.
