1. Describe how the following musical elements are being embellished/ developed throughout the improvisation:
1.a) Rhythm- eg. Use of repetition, syncopation, note durations. There is repetition of phrases. The song is at a steady flowing pace speeding up slightly in the bridge. 1.b) Melody- ascending descending repetition, intervals, scales, modes, shape/stepwise motion and leaps. The Melody ascends and descends equally. There are a number of leaps of intervals in the song especially when he sings the high notes. 1.c) Dynamics- crescendo, decrescendo, accent, loud and soft passages The song starts soft gradually increasing in volume to the climax then decreases again till the end. 1.d) Tone- clean, processed, articulation. He sings with clear articulation pronouncing the English and Italian correctly. 2. Identify potential OHS risks or challenges posed by the performance style. I cannot see any OHS risks in his performance. 3. Describe how the musicians interact with the other band members. Anthony sings as if he is telling a story and as if he is the only person in the room so he doesnt feel the need to communicate with the band members. 4. Describe how the musicians communicate with the audience before, between and after performances Anthony communicates by looking around the room glancing at everyone and thanking them at the end. 5. What cues musical or visual were used to start or end improvised sequences of music? His facial expressions and hand and body movements are all visual cues of different sections in the song. 6. Describe the use of rhythm, dynamics, texture, used by the accompanists whilst the solo is being performed. The accompanists star of with one or two violins to give a soft sound as he is singing softly at this point. When the music intensifies the orchestral accompaniment also thickens with more instrumentation joining in.
