Success part 2 - Pastor Muyiwa Olubowale

Success has unfortunately been dened incorrectly by the world. Success is not summed up by
our money, cars and houses. Success is dened by accomplishing that which we were made to be.
When we complete a task, we are successful. Success is also about relationships - our
relationships with God and our relationship with others.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul
prospereth
3 John 1:2

Like we mentioned last time it is important that we see success in order to be successful. Our
perspective on life determines our success. We need to think and believe success.

As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even
God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who
against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that
which was spoken, So shall thy seed be
(Romans 4:17-18)
To be successful we need to see things that are not, as though they were. We need to see God as
one who is able to do all things, otherwise we cannot believe him to do the things we need. We
need to understand that he is the covenant keeping God and he will do whatever he said he will do
But without faith it is impossible to please him:for he that cometh to God must believe
that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him
(Heb 11:6)

Apart from thinking and believing success, we need to study for it. Success comes to those who
are prepared.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day
and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:for then
thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success
(Josh 1:8)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his
season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper
(Psalm 1: 1-3)
Having read the word of God, we then need to study and nd out how to apply it to our situation.
We need to study to fully understand the truth of Gods word.
For example, when you have a headache, the only way you can truly accept that God will heal you
is by meditating on the word of God and coming to the full understanding that God is a healer until
the reality that God is a healer becomes more real than the headache we have.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Mat 4:4) - we need to live by the revelation of the word of
God.

Now, it is not about denying the current physical reality or pretending that it is not true but to realise
that, despite that headache being present, you understand that God is able to heal you because he
has done it before.
We need to plan for success

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established
(Proverbs 16:1, 3)

God has given us the responsibility to plan. God then takes up the responsibility of ensuring that
our plans are successful.

Plans are established by counsel; by wise guidance wage war
(Prov 20:18)

In order to success we need to befriend success. That means surrounding ourselves with
successful people. Iron sharpens Iron. Successful people are able to give us counsel. (Prov
15:22)

Finally, we need to overcome our addictions. Certain addictions cause us to waste time that we
ought to spend being productive. Addictions are different for each individual and include social
media, computer games etc.
Gen 25:34 - Esau, because of food, gave up his birthright. Are there valuable things in our lives
that we give up due to addictions?
