Religion: We are learning more about the
Sacrament of Baptism. We read about a young
boys Baptism in our religion text.

Reading: This week we are working with the
ending sounds er and the three different sounds
of ed. We read several Frog and Toad stories. We
finished writing in our October journals.

Math: We are writing and reading addition and
subtraction sentences. We practiced solving
addition problems by counting on from the larger
addend. We looked for clues in the question to
decide when to add or subtract. We are also
working with the double facts from 0 to 10.

Science: We read about mammals this week. We
are using a set of posters to describe each one of
6 groups of animals.

Halloween activities: We read many stories in
class. We created poems using the parts of speech
to help choose missing words in the poem. We
created monsters and wrote stories about the
monsters on Halloween. Solving math problems,
we drew math monsters and created a Halloween
scene. We watched a Discovery Education video
clip about the traditions of Halloween. We
decorated treat bags to carry home our treats.

Star of the Week

Matthew is our star this week.
He brought many special things
to share with the class. He
showed us the remote control
car he got for his birthday. His
dad was our guest reader. He
read one of his favorite stories.

Matthew, you are
a super star!
