Task 4: Grant Application Short Answer

1. In order to create a memorable event/experience for the students, teachers and parents of Alcovy High
School, I would be sure to integrate technology and social media into the book talks as well as utilize the
local community. The first thing I would do is make sure that all three sessions/book talks would be live
tweeted and pictures posted on the schools website and Instagram page. The next thing I would do it
have the book talks/sessions live streamed on the schools website so that people who are unable to
attend would still be able to benefit from the speaker. Finally, I would invite the local press to cover the
event. I would try to make sure the newspaper did a write up on the sessions and if possible, I would ask
the local news to come out to the school as well.

2. Amber Brown, the main character in Paula Danzingers novels, would want to have a childrens book
author at the school to celebrate life, love and most of all friendship. Amber Brown was really interested in
her friends and in friendship and we at Alcovy High School, believe that Amber would want an event that
would bring together all different types of students for something positive within the community.
