Artist Statement

For my project, I chose to look at the Washington Redskins mascot. This

political issue involved the freedom of speech and the idea of equality. My visual
piece is a collage and with that I tried to incorporate the pathos. I used pictures of
Native Americans and turned them to black and white to try to show sadness. I
placed the a picture of Washingtons logo in the center and enlarged it in color to try
to show that this figure is overpowering and is superior. Hopefully this collage
connects to your emotions and has you question the morality of the Redskins logo.
