Routines for Literacy Group

We will
1. Meet at the rug for a mini lesson
2. Listen to a read aloud/think aloud by the teacher
3. Learn new skills
4. Think about what we are reading
5. Turn and talk to a partner
6. Work in guided reading groups or with our reading partner
7. Work independently to practice new skills
8. READ! A little longer each time
9. Work on our spelling and other word work
10. Follow the norms of the school (P.I.R.R)
11. Make our monster grow on Go Noodle!

Reading With a partner

Questions to ask:
Where will we sit?
Who will read first?
Will we read together?
How will we help each other?
While reading with our partner we will:
Read softly to each other
Give each other wait a minute time to figure out new words
Hold the book carefully in the middle
Use manners/P.I.R.R. norms
Give your partner strategies to help them
Sit EEKK! style
