Task Two: Analysis of Front Cover

The masthead on this magazine is Kerrang! it

stands out immediately as it is bright green and the
background is a dark blue. The main image covers
the masthead partly which shows how popular the
magazine is as the masthead is still recognisable. It
looks as if the font has been cracked which fits into
the mise-en-scene of the magazine, which is
Halloween. The font also looks very edgy which is
good as the genre of this magazine is rock.

The main cover line is in the same colour as the font

which shows consistency in the house style,
however, it is in a different font to make it stand out
more as the main cover line. It is a large size which
means it is one of the first things you see after the
masthead.

Footer- The footer consists of bands featuring in the

magazine and also tours that are mentioned. All the bands
mentioned belong to the genre of rock or alternative rock,
which is what the magazines is based on.

Main Image- The main image covers the masthead slightly

and feature two people instead of one, which is breaking
away from codes and conventions. The two people are
both wearing similar dark clothes however they dont fade
into the background even though the rest of the layout is
very bright.

Puff- The puff features things to

win inside the magazine.

Barcode, price, dateline and issue number- all of these

features are in the same place as they are all similar. The
barcode and price are in the corner. This means they are
out of the way but still visible
