HERKIMER, NY Sophomore Mitchel White was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for
October. White, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College, helped the
Generals capture their 25th consecutive Region III Championship, defeating Genesee last weekend (11/1)
at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
White, a resident of Leicester, England had quite the month, scoring in consecutive games which
doubled his output from September, seeing the defender score his first career NJCAA DIII goal against
Fulton-Montgomery Community College in a 9-0 victory. His two goals in October helped the team
outscore opponents 42-1 in seven games.
White however made a bigger impact on defense, helping shut out six opponents, four of them on
the road. The team increased their Mountain Valley Conference record to 6-0 in the process, defeating
Hudson Valley (3-0) Mohawk Valley (7-0) and SUNY Delhi (2-1). In October, White helped the defense
average .143 goals against per game, the best in the nation.
"Mitch is the General of our back four, said Head Mens Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. He does a great
job keeping us organized and keeping our shape. Mitch is a tremendous leader both on and off of the field!"
