Colonies

Children of wealthy planters were educated at home

They learned reading, writing, dancing and music.


Boys learned how to ride horses and hunt.
Girls were taught to sew and sing.
Backcountry children of farmers often didnt have school
They learned plowing, hunting, sewing and cooking

Many salves were separated from family

Children and adults worked on plantations


Slaves were punished and sometimes killed
Poor food, clothing and shelter
Some slaves fought back by running away
