Isabels parents were offended that Alexs parents used the term jesus christ When the
parents first meet Isabels father says that they are from a different cultures. They use
many racial slurs. Alexs father says that the white people are burning. This insinuates
that Isabel and her parents are too dark skinned to burn. There is also the fact that they
view the religion of the baby as different .Believe it or not, there are some ways which we
are all prejudiced. It is just that some people act on what they think, some just keep silent.
Racism is a poison that seeps into a person's mind, telling that person that his race is
more superior to other races. There are many levels of racism. Sometimes, it may be to
avoid people of other ethics. Sometimes, the situation escalates where a person s
interracial dating relationship. However, it is easier for you to handle a situation if you
know what levels of prejudice are these people at. Confronting people who are close to
you is an extremely difficult task. This especially applies to your family members. We
can't blame other people for thinking what they wish to think. After all, it is within their
scope of freedom. Imagine you having an argument with your parents because they hate
your girlfriend? One good way to introduce a girl that is of a different race to your
parents is to talk about your new girlfriend first without any reference or clue that they
have cultural differences! Talk about why you like them and the characteristics which
your parents will love. Talk about their positive traits will complement well with the
behavior of your siblings. Without doubt, there will be prejudices at the first meeting.
But, it is definitely possible to minimize possibilities of barriers being formed.
