A Note from the Teacher:

We are entering our 3rd month of this school year and students are now familiar with our class routines and expectations.
This month we will be participating in some exciting activities including Swim to Survive. This is a great program that will
teach your child the basic skills of swimming (students are placed into 3 separate ability groups and will learn different
skills based on this). We will leave the school at 9 a.m. and our program will run between 9:30 and 10:15 am.
The class has been reading through The One and Only Ivan. Many amazing reading skills such as predicting, visualizing,
questioning, making connections and summarizing are being utilized. For Math, we are starting a new math unit on Data
Management. We will learn all about attributes and sorting as well as different types of graphs, The class is really coming
together as we cheer each other on when one experiences the AHA Light Bulb moments. As always, thank you for your
ongoing support in your childs academics.
Sincerely,
Mr. Chin

Important Reminders for

Parents:
The weather is getting colder.
Please ensure your child
brings and wears appropriate
clothes (i.e., hats, scarves,
mittens, gloves, sweaters, coats, etc.) for
the weather conditions. Also, please ensure that your child has indoor and outdoor shoes. Indoor shoes should be
non-marking running shoes and should
be left at school. Thank You!
PLEASE ensur e your child is coming
to school with healthy snacks to eat at
recess time. Many students in the class
are saying they do not have a snack at
recess time.
