Diners Card is the oldest Charge Card1 in the country.

At an annual fee of
Rs 3500/- it is one of the most expensive cards in the country, and is
positioned at the upper end of the market.
You as the Chief Operations Officer at Citibank [which owns the Diners brand
name] have been facing a small but irritating problem.
The monthly statement that is dispatched to the customers is in two parts
separated by a perforation. The lower half indicates the details of the
transactions. The upper half, [which is supposed to be torn off and returned
to Citibank with the payment] contains the clients name, card number,
amount etc all pre-printed. The client is supposed to enter the payment
cheque number, drawee bank, amount and date in boxes that have been
provided. The cheque is to be drawn in the favor of Diners A/c no xxxx xxxx
xxxx, with the payment rounded off to the nearest rupee
Despite printing in bold, PLEASE DO NOT STAPLE THE CHEQUE, the
card holders, [or as you suspect, given the client profile, their secretaries]
have been invariably stapling the cheque to the counterfoil.
This has slowed down the clearing process, and often results in cheques that
are torn at the staple and are returned by the automatic cheque clearing
department. The time that it takes to re-route these cheques through manual
clearing means that working capital is locked up for a longer period, resulting
in substantial interest loss to the Bank. Unfortunately, Bank is not keen to
start e-transaction for such payments.
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM BY CHANGING
PROCESS2 ? Draw New Service Map (based on circulated reading on
service mapping)

A charge card is different from a credit card. In a Credit Card, you make transactions, you
are billed at the end of the month, and you have the option of paying a MINIMUM
BALANCE DUE. In a charge card, full payment is to be made within 21 days of receiving
the statement.
