Common Assessment #3 PLAN OF ACTION

Warrior Parents: We have taken our first Fraction Pretest and Id like to
provide you with some information that will help students be successful in this unit and ALL
fraction units! If the question numbers are highlighted those are the standards your child is
still struggling with. Please note that EVERY TEST contains review questions.

The review questions are just as important as the current

content as we will need to answer ALL standards on our EOG.

G3 is about coordinate planes

OA1/2 are order of operations (this bodes well for our
Common Assessment #2)
These are the only standards that we have a decent hold on. It
is reasonable to expect that all the NF standards (fractions)
show a low percentage of correctness. However, the degree to
which we must grow to proficiency is great!
All NBT standards represent your childs aptitude at number
sense we are struggling in this area still. This concerns me
because this is a foundational standard that will help us be
successful in the other standards. NBT1 was on the 1st
Common Assessment and still only 7% of the kids get this.
NBT5 and NBT6 are multiplication and division this is not a
good percent either because on Monday, November 10th they
are being tested on this. Ill know better how well weve done
as a grade level next week.
I have found some videos and tutorials that address specific
standards on YouTube. I swear I cant stress enough that
more time on the computer with purpose is needed than
anything else right now. I feel like Im pleading with you to
assist me. Im good with that if thats what it
takesPLEASE

ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO BE AN

ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN THEIR MATH LEARNING BY WATCHING AND TAKING
NOTES FROM THE WEBSITES IVE SUGGESSTED. PLEASE!

We are operating at a loss right now and they need this extra push.

The EOG breakdown per standard is as follows:

Numbers & Operations
in Base Ten
Multiplication/Division,
Addition, Subtraction
Geometry
Measurement & Data
Line Plots, Converting
Customary to Metric
Measurement
Numbers & Operations
in Fractions Decimals,
Adding, Subtracting,
Multiplying & Dividing
Fractions (Alone or in
Combinations)
Operations & Algebraic
Thinking Order of
Operations/PEMDAS

22 - 27%

2-7%
10 15%

47-52%

So based on the chart above our kids, if they took the EOG today
would score well in Geometry and Operations & Algebraic Thinking
which would give them 17% out of 100. The bang for our buck lies
in NBT and NF standardsthis is just strategic thinking. Our EOG
levels are as follows:
Level 1
Level 2

0% - 34%
35% - 51%

FAILURE

Level 3

52% - 56%

Level 5

COLLEGE READY

Our goal needs to be that these babies are college ready. I NEED
YOUR HELP. Instead of asking just how school was try asking what
5 10%
you got from the videos Mrs. Carter has assigned. If internet
connection is an issue weve got a solution for that too. On
Thursdays we will have a Computer Lab time set up for children to look at the videos, every morning children
can look at a video before going to specials, and they have access to IPADS and laptops in my room. YOUR
CHILD NEEDS TO TAKE THE INIATIVE TO SEARCH FOR WHAT HE/SHE IS LACKING. This is just good practice for
developing them as students and life-long learners, but I need your help in setting this as a standard. I
absolutely have a vested interest in their success as their success is tied to mine as a professional, but more
than that what Im asking of them is good for them in the long run. I NEED YOUR HELP!! The following are a
list of websites that address specific standards. LOOK AT THEM!
