GOING TO:
We use GOING TO for plans
and things we know, we are going
to do (definite) in the future.

Planned actions in the future:


I am going to go to the gym.

They are going to sing at the disco.

You are certain that something is going to


happen in the future:

She is going to have a baby.

Look at that car! It is going to collide


with the girl.

Its going to rain, the sky is too dark.

Affirmative sentences:
I am going to look for a job.

She is going to buy this perfume.

Negative form:
He isnt going to visit London with us.

You arent going to eat pineapple.

Interrogative form:

Are you going to have a date with Jeremy?


Yes, Iam

What are you going to do this summer?


Im going to visit my grandparents.

Gonna
Sometimes when we speak quickly, GOING TO sounds like
GONNA. While it is grammatically incorrect, it is used a lot in
very informal English. It is also written in song titles or in song
lyrics. Lets see an example.

A: What are you gonna do tonight?


B: I'm gonna stay home.
A: What are you gonna do for your birthday?
B: I'm gonna go out with some friends.
A: Where are you gonna go?
B: We're gonna go to a restaurant.
