Challenge!
Next year the Oxford English
Dictionary is removing the following
words from its pages
WHY?
They are judged to be old-fashioned,
unheard of, or never used.

I N S T R U C T I O N S:

Your group will be given a word


Think up two POSSIBLE meanings/definitions
for it-the more original the better!
Meanwhile your teacher will come round and
SECRETLY give you the TRUE definition
Read out the three definitions and the class
have to guess the true one

The words are:

Agrestic
Caducity
Compossible
Embrangle
Fubsy
Griseous
Niddening
Roborant
Vaticinate
Villipend

The real definitions

Agrestic: rural/rustic
Caducity: weakness, impermanence
Compossible : able to work in harmony
Embrangle ; to involve, draw into something
Fubsy: short and fat
Griseous: greyish in colour
Niddening : irritating in a minor way

Roborant : a boost, energiser, stimulus


Vaticinate: predict, foresee
Villipend: scorn, belittle, revile, sneer at
