The Poem: a spooky story for Hallowe'en

by Isabella Dimitroulatou Marouga

Today, I found a letter.

It was of the forgotten lot, of course. One of these that never reach
their intended destination, instead ending up on the pavement, left to
the mercy of the elements. Their contents are always interesting,
though never too personal.
I collect them. An entire bookshelf is dedicated to them, back home.
This one is particularly sad, in a unique way. It's filled with doodles
and parts of what I assume would be a poem, if its destiny were to
be fulfilled.
Art student, I suppose. or maybe a creative writing group member.
This sort usually loses them by accident.
At school, the teacher informs us that an 8th grader committed
suicide two days ago. They found his body somewhere under the bridge of the local graveyard, washed
up on the riverbank. A silence is evident during the first few minutes of the lesson. As I get up to
leave the classroom, people have gone back to conversing avidly.
Dramatic, that one.
I end up leaving school earlier than usual. The air is thick with a sense of impending rain. Dark clouds
adorn the sky.
I decide to pay a visit to the graveyard.

West of the main entrance, under ancient oak trees and wild rose bushes, lies a
collapsing stone bridge. Most visitors choose to avoid this place, as it has been left
unattended for years. Tall grass has taken the place of a small path, and the
river runs vigorously even during the summer.

I reach the riverbank. Mist has crept over the place by now. I sit down on a
patch of wet leaves and face the water.

I leave it beside me, then rise.
I can feel the shadows reaching out to me.
I start walking back to whence I came. No need to wait for responses. They usually take too long, and
time among the living is always limited.
I know that if I had waited longer, I would have heard the wind whisper.
But alas, there's never enough time for such things.

Learn Some Things about cats
by Daniela Liakouri
Cats are classed as felines
and are carnivorous mammals.
They have good eyesight that
helps them to see in the dark and
sharp claws that help them to hunt
mice, small mammals and birds.
They have fur so that they
can protect themselves from the cold
and most of them have a tail, but
not all of them.
Cats are divided into two
groups: the wild cats that live in
forests and the domestic cats that
live in our houses.
Wild cats are bigger than
domestic cats and their size reaches
1,20m. Their fur is thick and soft and
their tails have the same diameter
from rump to tip. In the daytime
they hide and at night they search
for food.

Wanna hip hop?

by Neta Gavala
Hip hop music started in the USA in the 70s. It is
a combination of rap music and graffiti art and people
who dance it wear great clothes!
My interest in hip hop dance started a year ago
when I first
saw the film
Step Up 2.
It is a film
about
teenagers
who come
together
because of
hip hop. I
was amazed
by the
actors
movements
and the
music in the
film!
I think that hip hop is fantastic, because it is a
great way to keep fit and spend your free time. Also,
listening to this music is an excellent way to practise your
English.
So, lets all hip hop!

cats have fewer whiskers than
wildcats and their tails get thinner at
the end.
A Good start to the day!
by Eleanna Giareni & Marianthie Deligianni
Many busy people no longer have time for breakfast.
However, it is often considered the most important meal of the
day. Skipping breakfast may mean
we dont get our daily specific
requirements of vitamins and other
essential nutrients.
Breakfast is even more important
for growing up normally.
In fact studies show that eating
breakfast helps children
do better in school.
So what should we put on
the family breakfast table?
A bowl of cereal with milk, two
Ghost Pancakes
slices of bread with honey
or jam, a sandwich with a glass of orange juice, etc.
All of these are an important part of any childs diet..
Thats why it is necessary to eat a good breakfast every day
before school. A good day starts from the morning!!! [especially
from breakfast-time!!!]

Lady Gaga And The Most Epic Concert Of All!

by Georgia Linardou

To get into the spooky October Hallowe'en mood, this delicious

recipe is just for you!!!!

Lady Gaga's recent concert was an epic night in Greece!

The American pop singer surprised us as always with
amazing costumes, awesome catwalks, and an unbelievable
dancing crew. Once again she was magical on stage with
her amazing voice! But how did she reach there?
Lady Gaga or Stefani Joanne Angelina
Germanotta was born in 1986 in Manhattan where she
grew up. At the age of 15 she got a job in a Greek
resaurant and after a couple of years became its
manager. At 18 she studied at New York University's Tisch
School of Art. Her first big successes were Fame in 2008
and then the chart toppers Just Dance and Poker Face.
The Fame Monster (2009), was met with a similar reception
and produced the successful singles Bad Romance,
Telephone, and Alejandro. Her second full-length album
Born This Way was released in 2011, topping the charts in
more than 20 countries, including the United States,
where it sold over one million copies in its first week. The
album produced the number one single Born This Way. Her
third album Artpop, released in 2013, topped the U.S.
charts and included the successful singles Applause and
Do What U Want. The instruments that she plays are the
piano and the guitar. Apart from being a singer she is
also a songwriter, record producer and actress!

JACK SKELLINGTON CUPCAKES

What you'll need:
1) a batch of chocolate cupcakes
2) white frosting
3) 2 toothpicks
4) tube of black decorating icing (you
can also use black food colouring to
colour white icing)
Let's cook!!
Frost the cupcakes with the white frosting. Use the
toothpick to outline the skeleton eyes in the frosting. Use the
black icing to make the eyes and use the other toothpick to
spread and smooth the icing. Next, make 2 short lines for the
nose and a long line across the bottom for the mouth. And for
the spooky touch, top the mouth randomly with a bunch of
short lines. All ready to eat!!!

Bubble Tea (tea, but not as you know it)

by Lucy Kotsiopoulou (Editor)
It's the new trend! Flavoured tea, with big
bubbles
at the
bottom
that are
literally
bursting
with
flavour!.
This cool
summer
drink is
tasty,
cheap
(depends
on the shop) and above all the most fun drink
you've probably ever experienced!
So let me explain how it works. You go into
the shop and ask for bubble tea. Then you pick
your flavour of bubbles (e.g. strawberry, apple,
blueberry, passion fruit) and after that you choose
your flavour of tea (e.g. mango, lemon, prickly
pear). The flavour of the bubble doesn't influence
the tea in any way, so they can be completely
different.
Try it out at Kifisia - Trieste Cafe
( 13, 14562 - just up from Varsos)
and Bubbleicious Tea Bar ( 68, 10559).
So, hubble bubble toil and trouble, get your tea on
the double!
