A Seminar-Workshop On Basic Economics for Micro

Entrepreneurs

This seminar will target specifically mothers ages between 25-50 years old and have their own
businesses such as sari-sari store or karinderia and other small to medium enterprises.
The seminar will be conducted by the students of the Basic Economic Classes in partnership with
ASA Philippines Foundation which is a non-government organization.
The purpose of this seminar-workshop is to give lectures on basic economics. This will equip the
mothers with tools of economic analyses that will guide them in understanding the issues
affecting their lives and that of the nation. Also, it aims to provide them business tips which
could help them to expand and develop their businesses further.
Each class shall have 2 representatives who will serve as coordinators between the class and the
ASA Philippines Foundation.
Each group shall be assigned an IEP senior who will serve as coach to guide the students during
the preparation and execution of the seminar.
Each group shall give lecture on the following:
o 10 principles of Economics
o Law of Demand and Supply
o Circular Flow
o Bath Tub Model
o Tips on managing small business/microenterprises
Before the seminar, the mothers should fill-up a registration form and will be asked to answer a
survey form to be provided by the FOS101 professors.
After the seminar, the mothers shall be given certificates affirming their participation in the
basic economic seminar.
Each group shall be in-charge of the organization as well as the overall documentation of the
project. The duration of the seminar will be 2.5-3 hours.

o Presentation materials
o Reflection Papers
o References
o Profile of Partner Organization
o Profile of Presenters
o Attendance per group
o Photos
o Profile of Participants
o Evaluation Sheet and Summary of Evaluation
o Summary of Cost and Expenses
o Other documentation files

Tentative Date of Seminar: September 14 and 21. The Group leaders shall inform their respective
instructors when and where will be the workshop-seminar will be held.
