1Use units as a way to understand problems and to guide the solution of


multi-step problems; choose and interpret units consistently in formulas; choose and interpret
the scale and the origin in graphs and data displays.(HS-PS1-3),(HS-PS1-8),(HS-PS2-6)

Lesson Objective(s):
The student will be able to convert values to find molar mass.
The students will be able to recognize the different temperature scales and create an
equation to convert between them.
Introduce the Learning Activity:
A. Objectives will be introduced by a video clip and a game. Expectations and
purpose will be explained alongside.
B. Students will gain interest in the lesson by viewing a funny clip from Austin
Powers and having playing an online matching game both related to the topic.
Provide Information:
A. Procedures will be described through mini lesson on the whiteboard and
guided practice. Definitions of moles, Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin will be
written on the board.
Provide Practice:
A. Students will have worksheets to work through problems in class as well as
assigned homework problems.
B. Students will be able to help each other while working through worksheets,
but each individual must have their own as well as the homework which will
be collected the following day.
Provide Knowledge of Results:
A. The in class portions of the worksheets will be graded on participation.
Complete or incomplete.
B. The homework will be graded on correctness.
Review the Activity:
A. Their worksheet will act as guided notes for future reference.
Method of Assessment:
A. The homework problems will be graded based on correctness. They will be
three points each for process, units, and correct answer. Points earned will be
divided by total possible points. (# correct /24 possible points)
