Brief up of security.. Arrangement of ambulances.. A palpable tension all around..

What is
happening?.. The representatives of the people of a country are going to meet. What type of
government is it to take such measures? It is shameful to say that it is a democratic country
and the rulers are the elected representatives of the people. It is no small country but the one
of the most respected democracies in the world, India. What happened in the parliament
recently is the new low level it has ever witnessed.
The whole country watched in shock when bundles of money were brandished in
parliament. The country watched in grief when parliament was attacked by terrorists. But
there are no words to describe the pepper sprays, gas masks, smashing of computers, scuffles,
fisticuffs, tearing papers, the pandemonium created in the house. The house turned into a
battleground.
What made the members to stoop down to the newer levels? To stop the passage of a
bill. Well, in a democracy, issues are to be handled in a proper democratic way. What we
witnessed is anarchy not democracy. We elected the members to voice our opinion in a
peaceful manner. What they did is totally unacceptable and unforgivable. When there is no
way to oppose the bill democratically, the bill is to be accepted. If they turn into hooligans or
thugs to prevent the acceptance of the bill, the country isnt going to watch silently.
What is more disturbing than their behavior is the way they were received at their
homeland. They became the new heroes at their homeland. It is high time to re-think where
we are heading to. Where are our ethos and values? What kind of people are we electing and
sending to the house? What message are we sending to the world? Why these incidents are
keep repeating in parliament? Is it because there are no leaders or is it that the people are
misjudging and electing the wrong candidates? India is going through a leadership crisis. We
need ethical, self less and courageous leaders. Hope the upcoming elections mark the new
beginning of a new political culture.
