The Story Behind Nashvilles Own Grammy-Winning Fairfield Four

Tennessee & the Birth of Rock n Roll

University Park, PA --November 11, 2014 -- Returning to a place he knows and loves,
Jerry Zolten will be in Nashville from November 19 through 23. He is available for instudio interviews during that time, and interviews via phone by arrangement before 11/19.
On 11/22 Zolten will be a Featured Presenter in the Country Music Hall of Fames Ford
Theater, with a multimedia talk titled From Hillbilly to Rockabilly: The Country Roots of
Rock n Roll. (http://bit.ly/zoltencmhof)
Zolten is the author of Great God AMighty! The Dixie Hummingbirds: Celebrating the Rise
of Soul Gospel Music, The Beatles as Recording Artists in The Cambridge Companion to
the Beatles, and co-editor of Bruce Springsteen, Cultural Studies, and the Runaway
American Dream. He is also the producer of albums by the Nashville based Grammywinning Fairfield Four and co-host of Chimpin the Blues, an acclaimed international blues
and gospel CD/LP release.
Zoltens insider stories and dynamic personality make him a great interview. ON TRIVIA:
Tennessee has a claim to the country roots of rock 'n' roll, says Zolten, but there are two
Pennsylvanians, one a disk jockey who actually came up with the term rock 'n' roll, and the
other a performer who beat Elvis to the charts with his brand of country-based rock. (Know
who they are?) ON NASHVILLE: My special ties to the city are linked to the city's own
Grammy-winning Fairfield Four whose career I helped resurrect back in the 1980s. I
produced two critically acclaimed albums with them, including Beautiful Stars by Fairfield
Four bass singer Isaac Freeman accompanied by the Bluebloods, a legendary Nashville band
comprised of A-list session artists. ON NEW DISCOVERIES: Im still making
discoveries on record of little known masterwork performances in both early country and
early rock 'n' roll that open our eyes to what a rich melting pot our culture really has been
and continues to be. I love sharing these gems with audiences.
