2nd Experiment: Material Strength:

Aim: To determine the strength of the materials being used. (Cotton, Paper, Rubber Bands)
Hypothesis: The rubber band will hold more weights and the cotton will hold the least.
Equipment: retort stand, clamp, hook, weights, and boss head.
Safety Precautions: don't drop the weights, take caution when stacking the weights
Materials: cotton, paper, rubber bands
Method:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Set up the retort stand and attach the clamp

Attach each material to the clamp, and tighten then put on the hook
Continuously add of weights
Repeat X2 for each material
Record results.

Results:
PAPER
575G
600G

COTTON
175G
180G

RUBBER BANDS
650G
800G

Variables: Independent-weight, materials

Dependant- amount of weights
Controlled-retort stand, boss head
Conclusion: In conclusion, this experiment was conducted successfully and the hypothesis was
prove correct as the rubber band held the most amount of weights and the cotton held the least
amount of weights.
