Section 2:
Using the research strategies outlined on the Career Investigation website, please answer all questions
in this section.

1)

Describe one or two employment opportunities related to the field of studies you have chosen.
How will your personal background enable you to be successful in this field?

(1100 Character limit)

Working at Electronic Boutique has taught me how to serve customers. In this

experience i have discovered that many people are affected by commercials and
advertisements. This has lead me to gain an interest in marketing and its effect on the
public. Another working experience i currently have is working in a retail store. Here i
have learnt the strategies behind advertisements. Also, i have learnt what it takes to
work for a large company. These two work experiences will help me be successful as i
will understand what the general public wants from their products and services.

2)

What is a typical workday like in this profession? What does an employee do?

(600 Character limit)

Typically a marketing coordinators works forty hours in a week. This is broken down into five days (monday
- friday), from nine am to five pm. A workday starts with reading emails. Once emails are read coordinators
meet with sales team. In these meetings marketing coordinators makes goals and objectives to achieve that
day: the sales team tells the coordinator the strengths and weaknesses of each product. After the meetings,
coordinators create and develop marketing campaigns to target potential buyers.

3)

What skills/abilities are required to be successful in the field?

(600 Character limit)

Marketing coordinators must be team players and be able to work well with other
individuals. Also, coordinators must be able to communicate well and be able to present
marketing campaigns to possible buyers. Technological skills are required for all
marketing coordinators as many different technologies must be used in all campaigns.
4)

What kind of education and training are required?

(600 Character limit)

Marketing coordinators need a bachelor of commerce with a marketing focus. This

takes four years to complete. When first starting out many new employees will have to
start at the bottom as marketing specialists. Only once they have experience is it
feasible to become a coordinator.

Section 2 continued:
Please answer all questions in this section.

5)

What are the starting, average, and maximum salaries in this occupation? Are there
opportunities for promotion?

(600 Character limit)

Many coordinators start at around 32,000 dollars. The average salary is 45,000
dollars ,with a maximum of 53,000. Promotions usually have coordinators move up in
the organization to larger roles in marketing such as managers.

6)

Where are these jobs most likely to be located and what are the working conditions?

(600 Character limit)

Marketing coordinating jobs are very diverse, which leads to endless opportunities .
Most of the jobs are in big cities like Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, and
Ottawa. Working conditions relate to working in tall buildings usually in the downtown
section of the city. This may require using public transportation as there is a lack of
parking.
7)

Is the job typically full-time, part-time, seasonal, or contract? What are the normal hours of
work?

(600 Character limit)

This job is full time and requires that coordinators work from monday to friday. Some
weekend shifts can occur; when meeting deadlines. Normal hours are nine am to five
pm.

8)

How is the future outlook for this career? How stable is employment in this occupation?

(1100 Character limit)

The future is bright for coordinators as many different companies don't have
technological skills to properly market their products. This creates opportunity for
individuals that can use current technologies. Marketing coordinating is a rather stable
occupation as large companies need coordinators to oversee marketing tasks.
Coordinating jobs are becoming more specialized as marketing campaigns need to be
more diverse in the twenty first century.
