1.

GTAW Rod ER70S-3 is recommendable.


Brand name shall be specified in WPS.

Five conditions shall be stated in the project


specification.

2.

Fillet welds shall be 2 pass minimum.

Sub-contractors WPS shall be confirmed.

3.

Preheat temp. shall be 250 deg.C.

Mock-up test shall be performed (as per 3.3).

Leg length and throat thickness shall be


confirmed.

Rapid cooling after welding shall be


prevented.

Control during Production Welding

Welding at site shall be monitored strictly.

SV, inspectors, welders shall be educated.

Standard for Inspection (Scope of QC Engineers)


1.

MIC10 hardness tester is recommendable.

2.

MIC2010 probe (equiv. HV10) is recommendable.

3.

Test location shall be ground smooth by #320 Hi-lap stone or finer.

4.

MIC10 inspector and Hi-lap grinder shall be trained well.

5.

Hardness measurement shall be applied to 100 % of the applicable welds.

6.

Acceptance criteria shall be 248HV maximum.

Data will be collected in the future to review this standard.
