The experiment aimed to determine what variables affect a pendulum by testing different weights and string lengths. The hypothesis that weight alone would affect the pendulum's motion was disproven, as string length also influenced the pendulum's time and degrees of swing. Safety precautions were followed in swinging weights from different lengths of string attached to a retort stand, with results recorded over multiple trials.

Aim: Determine what variables affect the pendulum:
Hypothesis: The weight will affect the outcome. Equipment: weights, retort stand, boss head, clamp Materials: String Safety Precautions: Make sure nobody is standing in front of the swinging weights, don't swing it to high. Method: 1. Assemble boss head and clamp onto the retort stand. 2. Attach the 10cm long string and 50g weight at 30 degrees 3. Swing, time, repeat 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for 30cm and 40cm strings and keep adding weights each time 5. Record and repeat. Results: MASS 50g 75g 100g
TRIAL 1 11 10 12
TRIAL 2 10 10 10
Variables: Independent- weights, string length
Dependant- degrees, time Controlled- retort stand Conclusion: The experiment was conducted successfully but the hypothesis was proven wrong as the string length affected the variables of the pendulum.
