3rd Experiment: Pendulum:

Aim: Determine what variables affect the pendulum:

Hypothesis: The weight will affect the outcome.
Equipment: weights, retort stand, boss head, clamp
Materials: String
Safety Precautions: Make sure nobody is standing in front of the swinging weights, don't swing it to
high.
Method:
1. Assemble boss head and clamp onto the retort stand.
2. Attach the 10cm long string and 50g weight at 30 degrees
3. Swing, time, repeat
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for 30cm and 40cm strings and keep adding weights each time
5. Record and repeat.
Results:

Variables: Independent- weights, string length

Dependant- degrees, time
Controlled- retort stand
Conclusion: The experiment was conducted successfully but the hypothesis was proven wrong as the
string length affected the variables of the pendulum.
