4th Experiment: Sherbet:

Aim: To test which sherbet is sour and which is sweet by testing acids and bases.
Hypothesis: The bag B will be sweeter as it has more sugar.
Equipment:
Bag A- 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda
1 teaspoon of citric acid
3 dessert spoons of jelly crystals
2 dessert spoons of icing sugar
Bag B- 2 teaspoon citric acid
2 teaspoons of bicarbonate soda
5 dessert spoons of icing sugar
2 dessert spoons of jelly crystals
Method:
1. Mix Part A ingredients and taste
2. Mix Part B ingredients and taste
3. Record results
Safety Precautions: mix everything together right, measure ingredients carefully, don spill anything
Results: Part B tasted better and sweeter as both base and acid were equal.
Variables: Independent- Change in amount ingredients
Dependant- Change in taste
Controlled- bags, ingredients
Conclusion: The experiment was proven correct and the hypothesis was proven correct as the Bag B
tasted better.
