Operations Research Linear Programming Problem

Example-1 A company, producing fruit products Pine Apple (PA) produces

two products viz., Canned PA Slices (CPAS) and Canned PA Juice (CPAJ).
The specific amounts of material, labour, and equipment required to produce
each product and , availability of each of these resources are presented in the
table below:
CPAS

CPAJ

12.0

Equipment (machine hours)

2.3

6.9

Material

1.4

4.9

Labour

(man hours)

( units )

Available resources

Assumption:
One unit of CPAJ has potential of profit margin of Rs. 2, and
One unit of CPJS has potential of profit margin of Rs. 1.
Objective of the study: To determine the product mix that will maximize the
total profit.

Example 2 (Solution of LPP by graphical method) A LPP formulated out of a

situation is as follows:
Maximize

Z = 7 X1 + 3 X2

Subject to

X1 + 2 X2 >= 3
X1 +

X2 <= 4

0 <= X1 <= 5/2

0 <= X2 <= 3/2
