JOB DESCRIPTION DIRECTOR OF MIDDLE SCHOOL


Summary of Position

The Director of Middle School reports to the Head of School and acts as the educational
leader for the middle school division. The Director of Middle School is charged with
responsibility for all activities involving students, faculty, curriculum, and programs in
that division.
More specifically, the Director of Middle School is responsible for the following:
Overseeing the divisions day-to-day operations, including the management of the
divisions staff and students.
Maintaining consistency between the schools mission and activities in the Middle
School division.
Serving as the educational leader of the Schools division
Serving as a visible presence in all areas of School life, including community,
school-wide, and divisional events.
Remaining updated on best practices, especially as those practices relate to Middle
School, and engaging the Middle School staff in regular conversations to ensure
that the division adheres to those practices.
Serving as an articulate spokesperson for the divisions strengths and plans to the
School community and to prospective families.
Establish and overseeing the divisions programs and policies for the division
Hiring, developing, evaluating, and retaining the divisions staff.
o Leading
o Coordinating and supervising the divisions regular meeting schedule
o Articulate clear professional standards to the faculty and ensure that these
standards are applied consistently and equitably
o Working with Schools other administrators to coordinate faculty in-service
schedules
Serve on the Leadership Team and Program Team
Perform other duties assigned by the Head of School
Support the school and its leadership
Guiding and supporting the faculty in curriculum development and maintaining
high standards.
