Pedram Tousi Hall of Fame Award
Wootton High School

One of three finalists, class of 2015.


Named after Pedram Tousi, class of 1997, a person of
extraordinary character, excelling in athletics and academics.
Pedram died in a car accident in 1996. In his memory, the
Wootton High School Hall of Fame was created, with Pedram
its first inductee.
The Hall of Fame is the most prestigious award at Wootton
High School and symbolizes the spirit of our school.

Summer intern, performed DNA and protein studies in support


of ongoing projects in lung cancer tumor research. Presented
poster entitled Role of ATIA in Tumorigenesis and Parkinsons
Disease at NIHs Summer Poster Day.

Humanities & Arts Signature Program. Investigating the ethics
of informed consent in medical research.

Organize fundraisers, including cookie dough sales


to benefit Kenya Connect and Healing Heroes, collection
of funds to benefit the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the
Philippines, and coordination of homeless walk to benefit
the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless.

Medical Explorers Program

Exploring medicine in a hospital setting, learning from


physicians and health professionals, earning CPR and AED
certifications, visiting DC area research facilities and
volunteering at community health events.

Wootton Patriot Ambassadors


August 2012 present

Select student organization dedicated to service, leadership,


scholarship and citizenship. As an ambassador, share
knowledge of Woottons programs and promote a sense of
spirit and community by serving at school events including
freshmen orientations, new student and parent tours, middle
school visits, plays and musicals, and senior graduation.

Troop 3, National Capital Area Council
July 2008 present

Boy led troop of 40+ scouts. Held leadership positions


including quartermaster, patrol leader, senior patrol leader
and troop guide. Life Scout, expect Eagle rank winter 2014.
Currently executing Eagle project to construct outdoor
classroom in the courtyard of Robert Frost Middle School,
including benches providing seating for 100 students and
staircase from basement to first floor level of courtyard.

BSA honor society, with focus on camping traditions and spirit,


leadership and service to others.

Participated in week-long service trips to communities


impacted by poverty or natural disaster, working to complete
improvement projects for local homes, churches and schools.
Locations served include West River, MD, Rocky Mount, NC,
Nassau, Bahamas, Tuscaloosa, AL, Trenton, NJ and Mescalero
Apache Reservation, Mescalero, NM.
