Learning and Growing - We Got This!
Welcome to week 6 at
Paideia! Second quarter is
flying by - its already time
for progress reports! Your
scholars second progress
report will be going home
this week, so please be
sure to check their backpack and go over it. As
always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any
questions or concerns you
may have! I am here to
help and support you and
your child! :)
We have a few more
happenings this week! On
Wednesday, the scholars
will perform their Readers
Theater, Fowlie Owlie !
Join us in the cafenasium
at 1:30pm and prepare to
be amused! Also, scholars

will need to have their Tom

the Turkey project turned
in on Thursday! I will be
using this project for a few
big grades, so please be
sure to help your scholar
complete it! Its supposed
to be a fun and amusing
activity that the whole
family can synergize on!
Thanks!
Every day, I am amazed
by how much the scholars
have learned and developed
since the beginning of the
year. As scholars attain
new skills, I am constantly
assessing their progress to
find areas of strength and
improvement.
One area
that all scholars can keep
developing is their reading
and blending skills. To use

this skill effectively, the

scholars must have a solid
knowledge of phonograms.
Please go over the sounds
each letter/letter combo
makes every night, and help
scholars to use that
knowledge to sound out two
and three-letter words.
Reading is an amazing skill
that each scholar is just
beginning to tap into, and
your support at home can
and will fast-track scholars
to reading success!

The Seven Habits Be Proactive!

This week begins our third cycle of the seven habits! As the year progresses, the
scholars are really improving and fine-tuning the skills and habits that are making
them responsible members of their community! To scholars, being proactive means
making good choices that help them to utilize all the other habits they have
learned about! Try giving your scholars more responsibility at home, and watch how
they proactively rise to the task!

Coming Up...
We have a busy week in school as we approach
the Thanksgiving break! In math, we are continuing
our measurement unit as we use non-standard units of
measurement (our hands, feet, pieces of string,
blocks, etc). For language arts, the scholars are
building their word wall by adding some new threeletter words! We will continue to strengthen our phonogram knowledge and blending skills.
For science, scholars are learning all about
ways to stay healthy. We talked about healthy habits
last week, and will talk about healthy food choices this
week! In social studies, we are studying Columbus and
the Pilgrims, as well as the significance of the first
Thanksgiving celebration.

Keep the learning going over Thanksgiving Break!

Next week (November 24-28), there will be no school while we observe
the Thanksgiving break. Although I would like each scholar to spend as much
time with their families during this break, we can still keep the learning going!
Family time can be a great opportunity to reinforce key concepts, such as number
sense and counting, phonogram review, measurement, and writing! Consider trying
a few of these activities as you enjoy the week together!

Have your scholar help to write a shopping list by spelling words for them to
write, or by tracing your handwriting.
At the grocery store, have scholars collect a certain number of items (for
example, putting six lemons in a bag, picking eight apples, etc).
Scholars can help set the table by completing a pattern (ex. fork, spoon,
plate, napkinfork, spoon, plate, napkin).
Scholars can help add and measure ingredients while cooking!
Challenge scholars to read simple words on store signs, food labels, etc...

Remember to sign your scholars agenda every night! Thank you!
