I am seeking a position as a school counselor. I am writing to present myself as a
qualified candidate with experience working within this field. Unlike many other
candidates, I have had much experience within the school environment. Not only
have I completed my School Counseling Internship as the sole counselor for East
Guernsey Local School District, I also have many years serving as an Intervention
Specialist. The experience, education, and skills I would bring to your school district
meets the hiring needs outlined in the description. As a highly motivated and
enthusiastic person, I am very interested to work and contribute to your school
counseling program.
As you can see from the enclosed resume, I have the experience and education
required for the school counseling position. My strong desire to counsel students in
academics, career, personal, and social development coupled with my history of
working with students with special needs makes me a strong candidate as a school
counselor. As an intervention specialist I worked with a diverse population and I
tailored lesson plans to meet my students needs. Using a creative approach in my
lessons allowed me to produce an interactive lesson meeting all the modalities. I feel
that this background has excelled my skills as a school counselor because I am able to
create extraordinary counseling activities to meet the unique needs of each client.
I also am an advocate for classroom guidance and group counseling sessions. By using
classroom guidance and group counseling, I would be able to reach a majority of the
students within the school building. Furthermore, my passion for this field continues to
grow. I am eager to collaborate with others within the school to gain more experience,
knowledge, and discover new ways to reach the students.
