Israel My Child

By: Niasehkar Gluaseay, Jr.

Israel my child
You are my second born virile offspring
You came to us as a surprise
At a theatre in Machakos on April 8, 2012
You cried out loud when your eyes caught the lights
Your voice eased her labor pains as your mum and others laughed
Their faces beamed with what seemed like endless delights
For me, that was opening a new page in Kenya
Your birth was a solemn charge I had to keep
But I was glad and proud of you my child
So I named you LIBENYA
For Liberia and Kenya had assimilated to bring forth Sila
From April to December 2012 I watched you grow
Even though it wasnt long last
As I had to return home to Liberia
But like all others who encountered you,
I was inspired by the power of the spirit
You carried in you
Since I couldnt understand Kikamba
I was often mad at hearing people call you Nzau,

Joyce, your grand mum says it meant the bull

Then Beth, your mum would calm me
That it was just a name describing how strong you are
O I loved you with all my heart
From the time when I set forth my eyes on you
So I would say you were a repeat of history,
The neo Obama!
Virtually the same story
About Kenyans, aliens and international study
For the nature of your natal explains it all
And you deserve the very best
But because I may not be able to father you as I should
Due to the distance we have separating us
I have hence blessed you
And have also vowed to fully love and always support you from afar
Israel my child
