CCSD Human Resources:

I am applying for a KIDS program autism teaching position in the Clark County School District.
As a graduate from Nevada state college with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education
with a concentration in Special Education, I feel prepared and ready to start my teaching
career in the CCSD. I have experience in this field having worked with children with autism for
nine years.

Working with children with autism has given me the skills in differentiated instruction, assistive
technology, and multi-sensory lesson planning allowing me to meet the needs of every
student. My experience working with children with autism has given me knowledge when it
comes to token economy systems, reinforcements and how to work with behaviors. While
student teaching, I gained IEP knowledge, and have flexible, adaptive and calm under
pressure abilities to work with children.

I have substituted in the CCSD for a year and a half and have long term substituted in
resource and autism classrooms. I have tutored my nephew with autism for four years, which
is part of the reason why I am so passionate when it comes to working with children with
autism and why I am strongly interested in this position. I was a student in the CCSD from the
time I started kindergarten through high school graduation and I had several teachers who
were so passionate for teaching and I want to give students the same opportunity I got in the
district.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you have any
further questions or need any other information. I look forward to hearing from you and I hope
to have a long and successful career in the Clark County School District.

Respectfully yours,
Shelbie Rodgers
