Media Movie Review: Little Rascals

When I watched this movie, it made me laugh and giggle almost all the
way through. That was one of the reasons I enjoyed watching it. It was so
hilarious, funny, and it even had a tint of romance in it. It was the fact that this
film took these very young boys and made them act like grownups that was so
funny yet creative at the same time. People think that just because kids are
small, that they dont understand or cant do certain things. This film proves
otherwise. It shows these 6 or 7 year olds having problems of their own, and
their own ways of solving them.
Spanky is the president of He-Man Woman Haters Club with other
boys from around the neighborhood as members. His best friend, Alfalfa has
just been chosen to drive The Blur, their go-cart, in the Soap Box Derby Style
race. But Alfalfa isnt like his friends at all. No, he is love with a sweet girl,
Darla. Because of the clubs main rule, Alfalfa keeps this a secret from his
friends. But the boys catch Alfalfa in the company of Darla, which to them was
a complete disaster. In attempt to breaking the couple up, the boys end up
accidently burning up the clubhouse! Darla starts to think that Alfalfa feels
ashamed of her, so she turns her attention to Waldo, a stuck up rick kid. Alfalfa
is devastated with the punishment hes given: to forget about Darla and the
other girls. Even though he agrees to do it, he is secretly trying to win her back.
To make matters worse, their go-cart is stolen by the neighborhoods bullies,
Butch and Woim. But of course the gang needs money to rebuild the
clubhouse and supplies to build a new go-cart. But these problems could test
the relationship between Alfalfa and Spanky. The race brings shows them
many things, besides winning.
I think that this film reflects the basic theme of friendship and
determination to achieve something. Spanky and Alfalfa learn the real
meaning of friendship and they accept each other exactly how they are. The
whole gang is determinated to win that race, no matter how small and weak

others think they are. They stick together and support each other. They gain
and give forgiveness, and if thats not friendship, then what is?
The music that this film had was great. It added feeling to that certain
scene from the film. That way, that part had more characteristics, which made
the movie more enjoyable. I couldnt notice the lighting that much in this film,
though. I think that they could have put some more details and improvements
in some scenes. Controlling the sun reflections would have been a good idea.
In contrary, the shots that they took were really good, and showed a great
amount of expertise in them. My favorite shot was the day of the race, the
images were at great angle, and well taken.
I would recommend this movie because it can sure make you laugh. Its
good to watch for anyone. Trust me its hilarious to see these kids face
problems, which they try to find their own ways of solving them. This movie
even has a funny way to show young love. It shows you the true meaning of
friendship and trust, and that you can accomplish big things, no matter how
small you are.
