The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose by 0.79 percent to 5,177.61 during Monday's final
trading session, supported by better economic data published by the Central Statistics Agency
(BPS).
According to Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data, 140 stocks strengthened significantly in
the afternoon, while 147 weakened and 88 remained unchanged, kontan.co.id reported.
Consumer products recorded the highest increase during Monday, climbing by 2.1 percent. It
was followed by manufacturing and finance, which strengthened by 1.24 percent and 1.21
percent, respectively.
The highest gainers on the LQ45 index were PT First Media (KLVB), PT Maskapai
Reasuransi Indonesia (MREI), PT Merck (MREK) and PT Asuransi Bintang (ASBI).
Meanwhile, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical (TPIA), PT Mustika Ratu (MRAT), PT
Pelayaran Tempuran Emas (TMAS) and PT Colorpak Indonesia (CLPI) were the index's
biggest losers.
According to BPS data, inflation throughout August was 0.49 percent lower than the rate
recorded in August over the past few years.
Bank Indonesia said it was optimistic that inflation of 5.3 percent could be achieved by the

The National Police announced on Monday that Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno
had been promoted to three-star general and had assumed the position of chief of the general
supervision inspectorate (Irwasum), replacing retiring Comr. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam.
Dwi, graduated from the police academy in 1982, the same year as National Police chief Gen.
Sutarman, and was appointed Jakarta Police chief in March, and is considered an
uncompromising leader.
His legacies include the closing of the notorious icon of Jakarta's underbelly, Stadium
nightclub, in Central Jakarta and the prosecution of alleged rape suspects in Jakarta
International School (JIS), which implicated five janitors and two teachers.
Dwi is also credited with successfully securing Jakarta during the legislative election on April
9, the presidential election on June 9 and the delivery of the Constitutional Courts verdict on
Aug. 21 that confirmed the victory of president-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
East Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Unggung Cahyono, who graduated from the police academy
in 1985, has been appointed as Dwi's replacement as of Sept. 1, according to a National
Police rotation announcement.
Unggung has spent most of his career in the National Police's Mobile Brigade Division
(Brimob). He was the deputy Papua Police chief from 2010 to 2011, West Kalimantan Police
chief from 2011 to 2012, and Brimob chief from 2012 to 2013.
National Police deputy detective chief Insp. Gen. Anas Yusuf, a 1985 graduate, has assumed
the post of East Java police chief.
State-owned train operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), through its subsidiary PT Reska
Multi Usaha (RMU), opened its first cafe in Bandung, West Java on Monday in order to cater
to the burgeoning culinary market in the city.
Located on Jalan Bengawan, Big 99 Cafe offers a number of favorite traditional dishes such
as sop konro bakar (grilled ox rib soup) and lumpia bohai (spring rolls filled with bamboo
shoots) as well as western dishes like sirloin steak, spaghetti and beef cordon blue.
Milk-based beverages with a lot of different flavors will be the drink specialties.
"With the human resources that we have today, we are going to continue to expand our
business by opening cafes like this in the future," RMU president director Noorhamidi said in
a statement on Monday.
The cafe also provides a lesehan area (sit-on-the-floor area), meeting rooms and live music
to attract guests and improve its service.
"We offer a lot of facilities to customers so that they can enjoy their meals here. Were also
giving 30 percent discount for all food and beverages until Sept.13," Big 99 Cafe manager
