Georgia Perimeter College President Dr. Anthony Tricoli has received the 2012
Pacesetter Award from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) for his support
of advising and counseling at the college.
This award recognizes executive officers who exemplify a commitment to academic
advising and are true advocates for advising, students and advisors across the institution. Since
1983, NACADA has honored individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the
improvement of academic advisement. The organization is considered the premiere advising
advocate for student advising.
During his tenure, Tricoli has revamped advising and counseling at Georgia Perimeter.
With the help of task forces comprised of faculty and staff, GPC used the states Rapid
Improvement Process to define, improve and standardize academic advising.
This national recognition is not the end of a process, but a benchmark along a path that
will take GPC to new heights in excellence in providing opportunities to students to achieve
college success, Tricoli said. It is an honor to be recognized by a national organization for the
hard work we do at Georgia Perimeter to improve academic advising.
Tricoli is not the first at GPC to be honored by the national organization. Dr. Sallie
Paschal and Tamra Ortgies-Young both received NACADA awards in 2009. Paschal received
the Outstanding Advising Award, in the academic advising administrator category. OrtgiesYoung received the Outstanding Advising Award, in the academic advising faculty category.
Tricoli will be honored Oct. 4 in Nashville, Tenn., during NACADAs annual fall
conference.
Georgia Perimeter College, the third largest institution of the University System of Georgia, serves
approximately 27,000 students through four campuses and several sites in metro Atlanta. For additional
