Introduction
Introduction
In this manual we will cover the steps and the timeline for applying to UNT. This manual
is meant for high school juniors and seniors who are looking to make UNT their future
college. Materials you will need are as followed:
Access to a computer with internet
Pen and paper for notes
Parent or guardian (should you choose to include them)
Applying for college can be stressful and confusing. But with this manuals step by step
instructions you will see that if you are prepared and understand the process it is simple
and exciting.

Taking your ACT/SAT
The first step to getting accepted into college begins while you are still in high school.
The SAT and ACT are two tests that colleges that use to help them in their decision
process. Taking the tests is just one thing but the key is making sure you achieve a good
score.
To get a score:
Take an SAT and ACT prep class
Study the SAT and ACT prep books
Get a good night sleep the night before the test
Consider taking the tests more than once to improve your scores

Visiting UNT
The next step on your road to UNT is making a visit to UNT. College visits are essential
to your college decision, no one wants to show up on their first day and realize they
hate the atmosphere of their college. During your visit it is important that you stop by
the office of admissions and the office of financial aid. They will help you figure out if
UNT is right for your future and your budget.
How to Schedule a Visit:
Go to www.UNT.edu
Move your curser over the admissions tab on the home page
Click the sign up for a tour now tab that appears on the right side of the drop
down menu
Click on the sign up for tour button that appears on the redirect page
Answer the prompts and questions
Fafsa
The next and final step to take prior to filling out your UNT application is completing the
Fafsa or Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is a form that students and their
parents fill out with their tax and income information and from this schools decide how
much financial obligation will fall on you and your parents and how much they are able
to give you in grants and loans. More information can be found at https://fafsa.ed.gov/
including deadlines, how to fill out the application and frequently asked questions.

Application Process
How to apply using ApplyTexas.org
After having a general idea on what college you want to attend, it is now time to apply.
1. Log onto applytexas.org to get started
2. Create a profile and insert basic information such as name, address, race, grade
level, and emergency contact information.
3. After creating a profile, you create an application to the college of your choice.
4. Select the 4-year university option and select the school you want to attend
5. Select the semester you want to attend (Fall or Spring)
6. Select a major that you want to pursue
7. Submit Biographical information
8. Submit Educational background
9. Submit Educational information
10. Submit Test scores
11. Submit Residency information
12. Submit Extracurricular and volunteer activities
13. Insert Employment information
14. Think of questions you have for the university and submit them
15. Submit the university essay (if applicable)
Application Fees
The application fee for UNT is $75 if you submit it by the required deadline. If the
application is late, the fee will jump up to $90.

After Acceptance
Talk to an Advisor
First set up an appointment to talk to an advisor. The advisor will assist you with all the
questions you have. The advisor will give you a degree plan depending on your major.
The advisor will also give you an advising code. The advising code is used to register for
classes.

Victory Hall
Victory Hall is located across I-35E from the UNT main campus on South Bonnie Brae.
Victory offers private and double room options, primarily just to freshmen and several of
the varsity sports teams.

West Hall
West Hall is located at the intersection of North Texas Boulevard and Chestnut Street.
West offers double and triple rooms so residents at West can enjoy a comfortable living
quarters with lofted beds and couches. West is a popular hangout because of the huge
lobby and commons area it has.

Traditions Hall
Traditions Hall is located on the corner of North Texas Boulevard and W. Prairie Street.
The building offers mostly private rooms but there are a few double rooms available. It
is also located across to Santa Fe Square.

Santa Fe Square
Designed with a Southwestern style, Santa Fe Square is located on W. Prairie and is also
located across from Traditions Hall.
Santa Fe Square provides large double rooms with a kitchen area. All rooms have
individual heating and air conditioning units for added comfort.

Mozart Square
Mozart Square is located at the main entrance of the University of North Texas. Mozart
Square offers only semi-private and double room options to only upperclassmen
residents.
Mozart houses the universitys mens and womens basketball teams. Each room is has
individual heating and air conditioning controls for added comfort.

Maple Hall
Maple is located on the corner of Maple Street and Avenue C. Mostly housing freshman;
Maple offers primarily double occupancy rooms as well as some triple occupancy rooms.
Maple has the Mean Greens cafeteria, the only 100% vegan dining option on campus.

Ping pong and pool tables
Computer lab, wireless internet available building-wide (including courtyard)

Legends Hall
Legends Hall is located at the corner of North Texas Boulevard and Sycamore Street.
Available only to upperclassmen residents, Legends residents have the choice of living in
either semi-private or private rooms.

Kerr Hall
Kerr Hall is located on Maple Street. Mainly housing freshmen, Kerr is UNTs largest
residence hall with nearly 1000 residents.
A popular spot on campus, Kerr is the best environment with residents socializing in the
lobby, grabbing a bite in the cafeteria or studying in groups.

Honors Hall
Honors Hall is located at the corner of Eagle Drive and Avenue C. Honors houses both
freshmen and upperclassmen who are members of the UNT Honors College. Honors
have many study rooms, small meeting space, two music practice rooms, activity areas
and lounges.

Entertainment equipment available for checkout at front desk (DVD player, board
games, billiards/ping pong equipment, etc.)
TV lounge and game areas
Largest community kitchen on campus

Crumley Hall
Crumley is located on the corner of Highland Street and Avenue C. Sixty percent of
Crumley Hall houses engineering students. Crumleys location near Willis Library makes
it a good option to choose to live.

College Inn
Located off Avenue D, College Inn houses upperclassmen and graduate students.
College Inn offers a variety of living options for residents, including double rooms,
"matchbox" singles, efficiency-style rooms and one-bedroom graduate apartments. The
22 graduate apartments are fully furnished and have a full kitchen and private baths.

Clark Hall
Located between Maple Street and Avenue C, Clark houses mainly freshmen. Clark
mostly consist double rooms with a handful of triple spaces. Clark is also the home to
the Emerald Eagle Scholars freshman. With Clark Park across the street, Clark is very
popular for residents to socialize and hang out.

Bruce Hall
Located between Chestnut Street and Avenue C, Bruce is considered very characterrich. Bruce houses residents of all classifications and majors. Built in 1946, Bruce is the
oldest residence hall on-campus and has had a handful of famous ex-residents, such as
Norah Jones and Don Henley.
