NEW BOARD MEMBERS

WANTED
Niagara Centre for Independent Living is looking for interested people to join its
volunteer Board of Directors.
Niagara Centre for Independent Living is a non-profit organization and registered
charity, run by and for, persons with any disability. Our resource centre promotes
the Independent Living philosophy which supports consumer choice, flexibility and
control. Independent Living Centres are founded on 4 principles. These principles
are: consumer control, cross disability, full participation and integration of all persons with disabilities; and community based. The majority of our Board of Directors and staff are persons with a disability. Our Vision is of full and equal citizenship for all persons with disabilities. Our mission is to help persons with disabilities
throughout Niagara achieve their independent living goals.
Our Board of Directors is responsible for making the decisions that set the direction of the agency. In making these decisions, the Board aims to make sure
the Centre is responsive to the needs of our consumers. The Board meets on a
monthly basis.
Joining the Board of Directors is a great way to help NCIL, and we encourage
anyone who feels like they could serve on the Board to apply and help us continue
to provide quality programs and services in our community.
