An introduction to Polynomials

Monomial – is a numeral, a variable, 
or the product of a numeral and one 
or more variables.  A monomial with 
no variables, such as –5 or 7 is 
called a constant.

Polynomial – is a monomial or a sum 
of terms that are monomials.  (This 
chapter is the study of polynomials with 
one variable)
Binomial – is a polynomial with 2 
terms.

Trinomial – is a polynomial with 3 
terms.
